The other day, I was in a train station, loading up my Octopus card. Just as I was about to slip the hundred dollar note into the machine, a woman walked up to the machine next to me to check how much money she has left in her card.

As you may know the way these things are laid out, we were standing all of twelve inches away from one another. Then all of a sudden, out of absolutely no fucking where, she turned her head towards my head and shouted a deafening "OI!!! OVER HERE!!! I TOLD YOU I AM HERE MA!!!!! SHUI NUI BAO*". Not only did she scare the shits out of me, but her voice was so loud that my ear was ringing afterwards. I turned my head to look at this woman, and she was looking over my shoulder. I turned to look behind me, and there she was, a small, sleepy looking child. Looking at her mother. Who nearly made my ear bleed.

* Shui nui bao is cantopop for something along the lines of "dumbass/useless/stupid girl"....

I hope that you bitched her out? Otherwise, while I admire your self-restraint, I'll sadly note that you took no action to decrease the odds of the same woman doing the same thing to numerous other people.

:/

It can be exhausting to scold people for their antisocial behavior, but if everyone straightened out even one idiot a day...

After the shell shock passed I just wanted to laugh. I mean, she was so loud it was almost comical.

I didn't laugh, though, as she sure looked as if she could and would rip my head off if I did.
