Rage
Okay, it's a class of 120 and about 5 of them dozed off. Still. I don't understand it. I do take it personally.
There is nothing more discouraging to a teacher than seeing students nodding off, one by one, when you are giving it your best. It's a one thirty class. Well-structured lecture, powerpoint presentation, bucketloads of fascinating examples, lively delivery, interactive atmosphere, plenty of encouragement and verbal acknowledgement and appreciation for whatever drivel or nonsense uttered, et cetera. AND I was wearing a skirt and nice shoes!
Why? Why are they so goddam sleepy?

They just ate lunch in the canteen, isn't it? Their bloodstreams are swimming with pig fat and MSG, poor little buggers. All they need is an adrenalin shot. Get one of those air horns and give it an unannounced blast when you see their eyes start to do the flip-and-roll. Or even just a big whistle.
