The Life Pursuit

Finally bought the new B&S CD. I've already heard half of all the songs before buying it and have read a whole load of reviews from both fans and media. So I knew pretty much what to expect. It's nice that they come up with something slightly different on each album. They even have a TV ad! Which you can see by clicking on their website (under the "news" section).

Their last album, Dear Catastrophe Waitress, was the only one of theirs that I loved on first listen. It was refreshingly different from anything they've done before, especially Stuart's singing voice, which has really opened up and he was finally singing using his maximum instead of the usual minimum lung capacity. On this new one, he's adopted a new thing, where it appears that he tries to sing like Marc Bolan on a couple of the tracks. It's amusing, more than anything else. As if he's taking the piss? Only he knows what that was all about. He is a poet and an artist afterall.

It's quite endearing how the way he sang "...you're the funny little frog in my throw-at". Throw-at. Heh.
