Where's my hipflask?

It's that time of year again when 1st year students "campaign" for all eligible to vote them into executive committees of various student organizations.

They are shouting out stupid slogans right outside my window (lunchtime's the worst). I wish they would just shut the hell up. Right this minute I can't think of anything more stupid that anyone in their right minds can do than to stand in a line wearing matching T-shirts, bowing to all passing by, waving banners and decorated dusters, yelling at the top of their lungs. ALL that and actually looking HAPPY.

Just as I'm struggling to suss out whether the economic resource perspective and the gender-role perspective make similar predictions about the participation in paid work of women who employ full-time foreign domestic workers... all I could hear is "vote us! vote us! Tra-la-la-la-la!". Man... if I start drinking from my hipflask in the next five minutes it will be their fault NOT mine.
