Ooouu dear. Looks like my little niece's (age 2 months) got herself an umbillical hernia. Not terribly easy on the eye, I tell ya. The poor thing cries a lot, and one cannot help but think perhaps that bulge is causing her some discomfort?

The lititerachure says in infants, this normally goes away without intervention within one to five year. But FIVE years! That's a terribly long time to wait. I hope hers will go away sooner rather than later.

If I have one, I will fiddle with it non-stop. I will definitely try to squeeze it. I might even try to stick a sharp needle into it and see if it pops. Guess it is bit like having a winky except it is more socially acceptable (and easier to reach).
